What is it?

Intelligence as a single trait:

  • G - general intelligence
  • Correlation between intelligent traits between people

Intelligence as a few:

  • Crystallized intelligence: factual knowledge
    • Increases steadily
  • Fluid inteligence: ability to think on the spot
    • Declines with age

Many things:

  • Remembering, planning, perceiving, etc

Three stratum:

  1. Extremely general - General intelligence
  2. Moderately general - fluid, crystallized, learning
  3. Specific

Measuring intelligence (Binet)

  • Developed IQ to tell which kids need attention
  • Intelligence Quotient
