At the top of the page, write down the main idea or argument you wish to make about your DC overall. You can use or modify the Thesis you developed for the week 2 discussion. The focus here should be on what your argument is about your DC’s ultimate purpose for existing: What are their overall goals, what do they value, and how do they communicate those goals/values?
Under the Thesis, Develop an outline for your report:

  • Using the information you’ve gathered using sources in all three categories listed on the prompt, think about what headings you can use to break the report into sections. What areas do you wish to focus on about your DC? Use the Swales anhd Schmidt & Kopple readings to help you narrow down the traits/characteristics you want to discuss. You DO NOT have to use/address all the traits/characteristics listed in those articles. Only use the ones that you think are most beneficial in helping you address the overall goals, values and communication methods of your DC. Remember, all sections and information you include in the outline must support your main idea/argument. Do not include any extra information that does not help further your main point.
  • The headings for the report must be short, concise, and clear. Under each heading, use bullet points to list some areas you wish to touch on for that section.
  • For each heading, utilize and include 1 or 2 different sources to help support some of your points.
