Answer: The cognitive science discourse community aims to increase understanding of the machinations of human cognition, primarily through a functional lens. To this end, this discourse community strongly regards research that is reproducible, rigorous, and analyzes the brain functionally and often with clever experimental designs aiming to isolate specific components of cognition, leveraging their findings towards the advancement of human cognition.
